Hello everyone! I’ll keep it fairly short (but actually this time lol). No spiritual rant today- For all of you who enjoy my spiritual rants, don’t worry, I’ll have one next week! π
This week was very quiet! We had a couple awesome lessons and at the end of the week, my companion and I got our second shots and the left side of us felt ded. π Nearly right after our shots, we went to our church building to practice our special Mother’s Day songs for our Singing With The Sisters last night (See my FB page), and my companion plays the flute. We somehow came to the conclusion that it would be awesome if I could find a cheap violin (since I play a tiny bit) and so we looked on FB Marketplace and almost immediately found a beautiful, barely used, white beginner’s violin!
We messaged the seller, decided to go out and get it (since this was pretty much the last time for the next week that we’d be available to go grab it) and headed over!
It’s so pretty and it sounds awesome when it’s tuned, but I’ve got some slipping pegs which I can remedy today. I would’ve loved to play it for Singing with the Sisters, but alas, I was not quite ready. π But it was a great use of some birthday money I had received (thank you Grandma!) and I’m so excited to use it in my missionary efforts!
I was also able to talk to a lot of my extended family face to face bc when I called my Mom for Mother’s Day, they were celebrating together! It was so amazing to hear a little from everyone, and I got one of my cousins to give my Mom one of my famous, traumatic bear hugs! π€ It was pretty great!
My Mom was also able to tell me about some really big blessings that have come from me serving, that have been weighing on my mind and have been in my prayers. I actually got a priesthood blessing at some point from my district leader. Finding out what’s going on at home because of my being out IN the field has been such a relief and such a blessing.
I’m off to celebrate my birthday with my amazing district (they spoil me πΌ) and I might have my Dad update this post with some pictures from later today, so stay updated! π
I love you all, and I’m so very grateful for my Mom, my grandmothers, my aunts, and my various other leaders and friends that have guided me throughout my life. I cannot begin to express how special my Mom is to me and what she’s taught me. She’s my best friend. (Sorry Momo π)
I’m also grateful for mail! π Thank for all of you who have written me or sent me something! Thank you for the cards, packages, and birthday wishes! It made my week so very special! And if you haven’t gotten the chance to write me yet, feel free to grab my address from my Dad! I’d love to get mail from everyone, and will write back. π
Happy belated Mother’s Day!

Katie, this is Coleen Gleason, your Grandma Cook’s best childhood friend. I’m in Ada, Michigan (suburb of Grand Rapids) visiting my son and his family, but I can’t remember EXACTLY where you are. Can you remind me?
Yeah! I am in Big Rapids! So sorry I didn’t see this earlier! Are you still visiting Michigan?
